Martin played in United's final league game of the season against
Hull but was unable to make the establish himself in the first-team picture at Old Trafford and spent various loan spells with
Rangers,
Stoke,
Plymouth,
Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to the Tractor Boys'
official website, Martin spoke of his delight at reuniting with 'Keano' and is relishing the opportunity of trying to help the club make a return to the top-flight of English football after a seven year absence (eight by the end of next season).
"It obviously wasn't an easy decision to leave a club like Manchester United but I know how ambitious the manager is here and I'm delighted to be a part of his plans for the future," Martin said.
"It's also important for me to be playing regular first-team football and hopefully I can help Ipswich get back in the Premier League."
