Former Manchester United star Quinton Fortune could be heading back to England this summer after his agent, Hayden Evans, confirmed that both Birmingham and Ipswich have invited the South African ace to join their pre-season training.
Following a brief spell in
Belgium with
Tubize, 32-year-old Fortune is available on a free transfer and is known to be keen on a return to
England where he enjoyed seven years with
United between 1999-2006.
Ipswich boss and former
United team-mate Roy Keane is eager to have a closer look at Fortune in training, while Blues boss Alex McLeish is believed to view the midfielder's versatility as an attractive proposition as he gears up for the club's return to the top-flight.
Hull City are also thought to be monitoring the player's situation as Phil Brown scours
Europe for quality reinforcements.
"Birmingham and Ipswich have invited Quinton to train with them so they can both have a look at him," Forune's representative told
skysports.com.
"Quinton is looking for a new club and he would be keen on returning to England.
"Phil Brown is also keeping tabs on him as Quinton is a free agent."Having moved to Old Trafford from
Atletico Madrid in the summer of 1999, Fortune made 76 league appearances for the Red Devils and scored 5 goals. He has also enjoyed brief spells at both
Bolton and Sunderland.
