Bullard: Hull City players back Brown

Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard insists that the entire Tigers dressing room is behind under fire manager Phil Brown, after a show of unity following Sunday's 2-1 win over Stoke City at the KC Stadium.

A Bullard strike was parried by Potters keeper Thomas Sorensen only for Jan Vennegoor of Hesslink to bury the winner late on.

The ensuing celebrations showed how eager the players at the Yorkshire club were to record a win for their manager, as several players ran to the touchline to embrace the coaching staff.

Brown has been under pressure recently after a poor start to the season, and after former chairman Phil Duffen resigned it was speculated new chairman Adam Pearson would dismiss the former Derby boss.

However, Bullard, who has recently returned from a 10-month injury lay off, has backed his manager saying to BBC Sport: "We thoroughly believe in the manager.

"We want him to stay. I believe he will - hopefully for a long time. He is a great man and a great manager.

"Sometimes football is like that, results don't go for you..

"It's so tight down there and three or four wins can really boost you and give you confidence and make you go up the league.

"We feel the pressure as players and men and we wanted it (the win) for Brown."
