Phil Brown has revealed how his beleaguered Hull City side stumbled across an unlikely form of inspiration which has improved his players' spirits no end - after he saved a suicidal woman's life!
Brown, 50, relayed the heart-warming story of how his team came across the woman threatening to jump from the City's Humber Bridge on Wednesday having taken his side on a walk as a team-building exercise.
The Tigers boss is known for his novel approach to building team morale, last season he took his relegation-threatened side on a Lake District retreat, and he famously conducted a half-time team-talk on the pitch with his side 4-0 down to Manchester City.
But Wednesday's miraculous events topped them all. Brown, who had taken his entire first team out in 'search of clarity', managed to 'sweet talk' the woman to safety, as she threatened to jump from the popular suicide spot.
The philosophical coach added that he saw the bridge as a perfect analogy for his precariously placed Tigers side.
"The bridge was built with engineering based on the fact that when an ill wind blows, it becomes stronger, a sturdier sculpture".
Meanwhile, Brown has refused to comment on speculation regarding his future at the KC Stadium, insisting he will cross that bridge when he comes to it.
Second bottom Hull City welcome Wigan Athletic at the KC on Saturday.
