Hull City are understood to be on the verge of signing Celta Vigo's Algerian international striker Kamel Ghilas. The 25-year-old, who only moved to the Balaídos
last summer from Portuguese side
Vitoria Guimaraes, was linked with a move to
Blackburn earlier in the summer, while
Bolton and
Portsmouth were also credited with an interest.
However, according to
skysports.com the Tigers are now in pole position to capture the hitman - who
scored 13 goals in Spain's Segunda Liga last term - with a fee in the region of €2million (£1.7m) set to be agreed between the two clubs.
Hull boss Phil Brown has made no secret of the fact he has been looking to strengthen his attacking options during the close season and has already lured USA international Jozy Altidore to the KC Stadium on a season-long loan from Villarreal.
With the deal expected to be completed over the coming days, Ghilas could make his debut at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as the Tigers take on
Chelsea in the opening fixture of the new Premier League season.
