Celtic pip Hull to Fortune

Marc-Antoine Fortune has admitted the lure of playing for 'one of Europe's biggest football clubs' led him to turn down the advances of a host of Premier League clubs to sign a three-year deal with Celtic.

The 28-year-old hitman has been linked with a move away from Ligue 1 club Nancy all summer after impressing during a loan spell with West Brom last season, where he scored five goals in 17 appearances.

A number of sides, including Hull City, were believed to be interested in Fortune, but after completing his reported £3.8million move to Parkhead the striker admitted that he was excited at the prospect of being reunited with Tony Mowbray, his boss at The Hawthorns.

"This is where I want to be. Having met the people at the club and knowing all about the club's fantastic pedigree and support, this is where I saw my future,"
Fortune told Celtic's official website.

"I am looking forward to the challenge of winning the league title, competing for the cups and playing in Europe, in front of the Celtic supporters.

"I am also looking forward to working with my manager, Tony Mowbray, once again. I had a great experience with him, Mark Venus and Peter Grant in the Premier League last season and I am looking forward to now working with him at one of Europe's biggest football clubs."

Meanwhile, Mowbray was also delighted to get his man with Fortune becoming his first signing since taking over the Scottish giants: "Marc is a quality player and at West Brom he was a privilege to work with.

"He is a team player, we were delighted with the way he performed in the Premiership and are looking forward to working with him at Celtic."
