Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is poised to be offered the job of coach to the Great Britain football team at the 2012 summer Olympics in London, according to reports.
The 61-year-old has impressed at Craven Cottage since taking over in December 2007, leading his team to seventh in the league last season and looks well placed to guide them into the last 32 of this campaign's Europa League on a minuscule budget.
Now the Daily Express are reporting that the former Blackburn and Inter Milan boss is the FA's unanimous choice for the upcoming role as coach of Britain's first Olympic football team in 52 years.
Hodgson has plenty of experience managing international teams, having coached Switzerland, the U.A.E and Finland in his 33 year managerial career.
Team GB will be made up solely of English players in the Under-23 bracket, as the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish FA's all refused to participate, so the squad will presumably be close to that of the current England Under-21 one.
The FA's original choice, Sir Alex Ferguson, turned down the role, though it is believed Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill and current England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce are also in the running along with Hodgson.
FA chairman Lord Triesman is understood to want the coach in place before Christmas so he can begin to shape and mould his squad ahead of the games in just under two years time.
