Fulham are understood to be closing in on the signing of Kalmar FF striker David Elm after failing to capture his younger brother, Rasmus, earlier this summer.
Reports in Sweden suggest the 26-year-old has travelled to the capital to undergo a medical at the Cottagers' Motspur Park training HQ after the two clubs agreed a fee.
The West London outfit were in the race to sign highly-rated Sweden Under-21 international Rasmus Elm, only for the 21-year-old to turn down a move to the Premier League in favour of joining Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar.
After watching his side's woeful performance in the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, Roy Hodgson conceded if Fulham were to compete both at home and on the continent this season he would have to strengthen further.
"We are considering that [bringing in more players]," said the experienced tactician. "You never know what is going to happen.
"We are still looking at certain options and we will see how they pan out."
Many Fulham fans having been crying out for a big target man to ease the pressure on first-choice pairing Andre Johnson and Bobby Zamora, who are both sidelined through injury at present.
However, the names of David Elm will hardly inspire diehard Cottagers, with many keen for the Hodgson to push a deal through for Red Bull Salzburg's prolific hitman Marc Janko.
David Elm is 6ft 3in and represents a cheap option but his goalscoring record in his homeland is nothing to write home about having scored 12 goals in 64 league appearances for Kalmar and managing 24 in his 68 games during his two years at Falkenbergs FF.
Lets hope that Hodgson knows what he is doing with this one, with Fulham not having a shot on target in the last three games, a spark is desperately needed.
