Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is understood to have re-ignited his interest in Wisla Krakow hitman Pawel Brozek amid fears that Andy Johnson could be sidelined for up to five weeks with a dislocated shoulder.
Reports emanating from Poland have suggested that the Cottagers have opened negotiations with the Polish champions about the possibility of signing the 27-year-old, who was named as the country's Footballer of the Year last term.
Brozek, who had an unsuccessful trial with West Ham
in 2004, has been the top scorer in the Polish league for the past two seasons, and recently spoke of his desire to play in the top-flight of
English football.
"If I were to leave, it would be now," Brozek told Fakt."The English Premier League is the best league in the world and I would love to play in it."
Representatives from Fulham are believed to have travelled to Krakow over the weekend to discuss a possible deal, although Brozek's €3million (£2.6m) price tag is said to be a stumbling block.
The West London outfit are unwilling to match the Poland international's valuation due to the fact he would be ineligible for their Europa League campaign having already taken part in a UEFA Champions League qualifier with Wisla.
Meanwhile, Hodgson is also said to have lodged a £2.5million bid with Primera Division side Almeria for Nigeria international striker Kalu Uche.
