Everton boss David Moyes is set to renew his interest in Real Madrid's out of favour playmaker Rafael van der Vaart after he admitted his future at the Santiago Bernabeu is far from certain.
The 26-year-old appeared close to sealing a loan switch to Goodison Park in the summer, only for Los Blancos to perform somewhat of a u-turn by insisting the Holland international still had a future in the Spanish capital.
However, Van der Vaart has made just one start for Manuel Pellegrini's men so far this term and now looks set to bring the curtain down down on his career with the Spanish giants in the New Year, with a loan move being mooted.
Van Der Vaart, who has lost his place in Bert van Marwijk's Oranje side due to his recent inactivity, has hinted that he would consider a winter switch but has played down the chances of going back former club Ajax - insisting it is 'too early'. "In principle I find it too early (to return) and I say no," Van der Vaart told De Telegraaf.
"I do not know if I will stay at Real Madrid, but there are other options."
One of those options is thought to be Everton, with David Moyes keen to add some much needed creativity to his squad what with Steven Pienaar and Mikel Arteta both sidelined at present and could look to seal a loan deal come January.
