Everton are believed to be weighing up a cut-price offer for Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli who seems destined to leave The Riverside this summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League.According to a report in the
Daily Mail, Toffees boss David Moyes is a big admirer of the
Turkey international and is ready to follow up his interest with a £4million bid.
The Scottish tactician is believed to be keen to add to his attacking options and with Nigerian hitman Yakubu close to returning to full fitness and the capture of
Manchester City misfit Jo on a season-long loan yesterday, the acquisition of Tuncay would give him the embarassment of riches he craves at Goodison Park next season
Tuncay, who arrived on Teeside from
Fenerbahce in a £6million deal in 2007, is widely expected to lead a mass exodus at Boro during the close season and has been linked with a host of top-flight clubs, including
Liverpool,
Aston Villa and Tottenham.
The 27-year-old has become him a fans' favourite among the Boro supporters and impressed last season despite Boro's abysmal campaign. His goal scoring record in
England makes for interesting reading with the Turk netting only 16 goals in 74 appearances in all competitions (1 goal in every 4.6 games).
However, Moyes will point to the talented hitman's application and willingness to work for the team - attributes that are vital if you are to play for the Toffees - as reasons for his rather disappointing return infront of goal.
