The former Liverpool star is in talks with the Toffees about a move this summer to bring him to Goodison Park under boss David Moyes.
The 29-year-old injury plagued hitman has been linked with a move to
Hull City as well as Tony Pulis's
Stoke City. But neither club have moved to make the
England international an offer. It's thought both clubs were waiting until Owen officially became a free agent on July 1st.
Now it appears Blues boss David Moyes has stolen a march on his rivals and is locked in talks with the ex-Real Madrid hotshot about a move to Merseyside. A competitive package has been tabled, with a wage of over £50,000 a week, plus add-ons to secure the services of the player who has 89 international caps to his name.
Owen is thought to be keen on a move that would offer him first team football as he still harbours ambitions of rekindling his
England career. Moyes could offer the goal ace that guarantee as well as the attractive prospect of European football.
Hull City are thought to be desperate to land the Chester-born hitman but Owen is reluctant to commit to a team who have not yet fully established themselves in the Premier League. Stability may be the ace up Everton's sleeve as they seek to rubber stamp the deal for the striker.
