Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has confirmed that Charlton Athletic midfielder Darren Ambrose has agreed to join the club on a reported two-year contract when his contract expires at the end of the month.
The midfielder had spent four years at the Valley after signing for the Addicks from Newcastle for £1.5million in 2005 but was widely tipped to leave following the club's relegation to League One.
He has now agreed a move to Selhurst Park and Warnock feels the talented 25-year-old can fill the void created by Ben Watson's January departure to Wigan Athletic.
"We've missed Ben's delivery from free-kicks and corners, but Darren's delivery is first class and we can utilise that," Warnock told the Croydon Advertiser.
"He is so versatile - he can play right, left or off the striker.
"Whatever system we play on a given day, Darren will be able to adapt to that.
"He is a quality footballer. I was so impressed with his attitude when I met him - all he talked about was football, not wages."
