Cole wants Chelsea stay

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has reiterated his desire to stay at Chelsea, and hopes that a new deal will be forthcoming from his current employers.

The England international ace has been linked with a whole host of clubs, after failing to put to pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Both Spurs and Arsenal were rumoured to have been lining up lucrative packages to try and lure him to either White Hart Lane or The Emirates Stadium.

But the former West Ham man, who has recently battled back from long term injury to regain his place in the Blues first team, now insists that he doesn't want to leave the club.

His current deal expires in the summer, and despite some lengthy negotiations, a new package is yet to be agreed, prompting speculation that the 28-year-old is ready to leave.

However, Cole quashed this, and reiterated his desire to ink a new, long term deal at Stamford Bridge. He emphasised his desire to improve his game under Carlo Ancelotti's guidance too.

"I want nothing more than to stay at Chelsea, I love it here," Cole told the Daily Mail.

"It's not a problem (the contract situation). I don't want a drama in the papers, either. You won't hear my agent running around saying I'm going to this club or that club. I want to be at Chelsea and they know that."

"I've still got a lot to prove. If I want to play the No.10 position for Chelsea, I've got to prove myself again but that's alright, I've had to prove myself all my life."
