Former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has hinted at a return to Stamford Bridge in the near future after admitting he would be interested in working as a technical director at a club
The highly-regarded Dutch tactician is currently in charge of Russia, but his future with the Sbornaya is far from uncertain after his failure to guide them to next summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.
Indeed, a report in Sport newspaper suggests that Russia have already lined up Hiddink's compatriot, and newly appointed Belgium coach, Dick Advocaat to replace the 63-year-old.
Former club PSV Eindhoven have offered Hiddink a position on their board, Bayern Munich are reportedly interested on his services, while he has been linked with the national jobs of South Africa, Argentina and Nigeria respectively.
But having conceded it may be time to move away from management, Hiddink hs opened the door to a sensational return to Chelsea with whom he won the FA Cup last season whilst in temporary charge.
A return to West London would see him work closely with new boss Carlo Ancelotti, and his appointment would be a popular choice amongst the players who have made no secret of their enjoyment working with the Dutchman.
"I am interested in working as a technical director," he said in the Daily Mail.
"On one hand, I am getting no younger and to work every day becomes less simple.
"On the other hand, the responsibilities of a technical director are more closely related to team affairs.
"This job offers tighter influence on strategy and future development of a club. it is close to me."
