Experienced Portsmouth defender Herman Hreidarsson believes that after securing their first win under Avram Grant Pompey can now go on an extended unbeaten run.

The South Coast club remain in the relegation zone after the 2-0 win, but it was a result that was desperately needed - especially against the Premier League's poor travellers Burnley.

Hreidarsson was on target for Pompey's first goal, and then Aruna Dindane also slotted home to make the game safe. This after the striker had missed a penalty.

Since Grant's appointment there has been a growing confidence at the club - despite them losing his first two games in charge. Now the former Charlton man believes that this can be the springboard they need to go on a lengthy unbeaten run.

"This was a massive win for us and hopefully it's a the start of something special," Hreidarsson told Sky Sports 1.

"Hopefully we'll kick on from here. There's loads of points to be played for still."

The win caps a good end to a poor week for the club during which the players' wages were late being paid and they were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Aston Villa.
