Burnley boss Owen Coyle has revealed that The Clarets are very close to adding to their squad ahead of the new season, with winger Fernando Guerrero poised to sign.
The Ecuadorian starlet has impressed greatly during his trial with the Lancashire outfit, and is now set to join The Clarets on a permanent basis.
A deal is yet to be finalised with the dynamo's current club Independiente Del Valle but it's thought negotiations are at an advanced stage.
Scottish supremo Coyle sees the dangerman as a potential unknown quantity ahead of the club's Premier League campaign and with a fee having been agreed - of around £2million- the ace is set to thrill the Turf Moor faithful.
He has already made two full international appearances, adn Coyle revealed a deal should be rubber stamped by the middle of this week.
“We've tried to speak to them but the president's away just now so when
he comes back we’ll have another chat,” said Coyle.
“I’m led to believe
that will be the middle of (this) week.”
Mr Flood has got this story slightly incorrect. Yes, Michael Essien did train with us, but there was never a chance of us signing. He had been on trial with Man United and was staying at a nearby hotel.
He trained with Burnley's youth team for a few sessions before moving on for a trial elsewhere.
