Clarets boss Owen Coyle is chasing England U21 international Adam Johnson, but might lose out on the Middlesbrough man to Real Madrid.
A substantial bid is being prepared by the Lancashire outfit to try and land the hot prospect who is destined for a move away from The Riverside following
Middlesbrough's relegation to The Championship last season.
According to reports, Coyle is ready to smash Burnley's record transfer fee with an offer thought to be in the region of £3million for the livewire wideman. 'Boro however are understood to be holding out for a fee of £5million.
The wantaway Johnson has already refused to sign a new deal with Gareth Southgate's men and is ambitious, eyeing a move to a top-flight club.
But in a shock twist, the Turf Moor outfit might have to forget signing the starlet as
