Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is reportedly lining up a £3million swoop for Everton striker James Vaughan in January.
Megson is desperate to add some much-needed fire power to his Trotters side, with midfield pair Matthew Taylor and Tamir Cohen the club's top scorers in the league this term, with just three goals.
However, a move for England Under-21 international Vaughan represents a major risk for Megson, taking into account the player's substantial injury record.
The 21-year-old has failed to fulfill his undoubted potential at Goodison Park since becoming the Premier League's youngest ever scorer in 2005, suffering a horrific run of injuries over the last four years.
It now appears David Moyes is ready to let Vaughan move on and was even prepared to let him return to Championship side Derby for a second loan spell to rebuild his match fitness and confidence.
However according to the Daily Mail, the Reebok Stadium now looks like the Birmingham-born forward's next destination in the January transfer window.
If Megson can keep Vaughan fit and scoring again, he could be bagging a real bargain in the transfer market.
Vaughan would relish the chance to prove himself at Bolton as he looks to finally fulfill the promise he first showed when he scored 13 minutes into his professional debut against Crystal Palace in 2005.
Trotters fans will be hoping the frontrunner doesn't prove to be another dodgy piece of business by former West Brom manager Megson in the transfer market!
