Gary Megson admits he is 'delighted' at the capture of Paul Robinson after the Bolton boss confirmed that the West Brom defender has completed a season-long loan move to the Reebok Stadium. The deal brings to an end a summer long pursuit of the full-back for Megson who revealed last week that he had made a renewed attempt to sign the 30-year-old after the Baggies had rejected his initial offer.
The clubs have been at loggerheads over the valuation of the no-nonsense left-back for some time with
West Brom believed to have been holding out for £1million while
Bolton were only prepared to offer half that amount.
However, with Robinson eager to leave the Hawthorns following the club's relegation from the Premier League last season a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer has now been rubber-stamped.
Megson, who worked with Robinson during his time in charge of
West Brom, was delighted to make the defender his second signing of the summer following the arrival of
Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis.
"I am delighted that we've managed to get him in," Megson is quoted as saying on
skysports.com. "He's got a great deal of Premier League experience and is the type of player Wanderers supporters will like."He has a wholehearted approach to the game, is desperate to win and will be good in the dressing room.
"I signed Robbo for West Brom from Watford a good few years ago and I know him really well. He'll bring some competition down the left."
