Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan is hopeful of concluding at least one new signing in the 'coming days' as the Blues look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.Blues boss Alex McLeish has already brought in no fewer then
seven new players to St Andrews this summer having concluded a season-long loan deal for
Manchester City stopper Joe Hart as well as completing a quartet of defensive signings with the arrivals of Stephen Carr, Scott Dann, Giovanny Espinoza and
Roger Johnson.
The former
Scotland chief has also captured
Lee Bowyer on a two-year deal from
West Ham, while he broke the club's tranfer record to sign highly-rated Ecuadorian hitman Christian Benitez, who joins for a fee believed to be in the region of £9million.
However, McLeish is not content just yet and has publicly expressed his desire to strength his midfield options ahead of his side's daunting opening day fixture away to the champions,
Manchester United, on 16th August.
Sullivan has revealed there are a host of potential arrivals, with the Premier League new-boys continuing to be linked with Joey Barton,
Barry Ferguson and Patrick Vieira, and is positive there will be more new faces soon.
"We are looking to strengthen the team further and, for a midfielder, we've got eight balls in the air at the moment, Sullivan told the
Birmingham Mail. "We are working hard and hopefully one or two things will be resolved in the coming days."
