Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs is expected to miss the next three months of action after breaking a metatarsal bone in his foot during Tuesday's 2-0 UEFA Champions League win over Standard Liege.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is already without first choice left-back Gael Clichy through injury, and now with Gibbs out, the Frenchman will be forced to call upon Armand Traore for the visit of Chelsea on Sunday.
England Under-21 international Gibbs, 20, has undergone surgery to repair the damage on Wednesday and will now be forced to sit out the next 12 weeks of the season.
However, there is better news from the Arsenal treatment table after William Gallas and Andrey Arshavin were both given the all clear following their accidental clash of heads at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night which led to the Russian requiring staples.
"Gallas has an ankle problem and a swollen eye," said Wenger on the club's official website.
"I think he will recover for Sunday, we hope so. It wasn't concussion but he couldn't see anymore because his eye was swollen.
"Arshavin has some staples in his head. He will be available for Sunday."
Meanwhile, the club have comfirmed that Alex Song has put pen-to-paper on a new long term deal at the Emirates Stadium, news ExtraFootie revealed on Tuesday.
