Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has rewarded midfield enforcer Alexandre Song for his impressive displays this season with a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 22-year-old has been one of the Gunners star performers this season with a number of impressive displays that have evoked memories of former captain Patrick Vieira patrolling the midfield for the North London giants.
The Cameroon international has made the anchor role in Wenger's new 4-3-3 formation his own, and although he still lacks positional discipline at times, he looks set to become Arsenal's enforcer for years to come.
Snapped up as a raw teenager from French side Bastia four years ago, Song enjoyed a loan stint at Charlton to gain first-team experience and
has since grabbed his chance after the departures of Gilberto Silva and Mathieu Flamini.
The Sun claim Song, who is new nephew of former Liverpool and West Hma defender Rigobert, will extend his current contract to 2015, with an Arsenal source telling the newspaper: "This is a reward for all his hard work.
"He has earned a starting place. His workrate and application have been exemplary.
"It is an indication the boss believes he can form a key part of his team in the long term."
Song becomes the latest star to pledge his future to Arsenal after Eduardo, Robin Van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Fran Merida and Kieron Gibbs all inked new deals over the past few months.
