Acclaimed film director Guy Ritchie has offered Arsenal playmaker Andrey Arshavin a role in a movie about the Russia international's protracted £17million move from Zenit St Petersburg to the Emirates Stadium.
Arshavin, 27, has been a revelation in the Premier League since arriving in North London in January, scoring eight goals and contributing six assists in 15 appearances for the Gunners last season, including a stunning 4-goal show at Anfield.
However, before his attacking flair and immense vision became major talking points, it was his complicated and drawn-out transfer saga that dominated the backpage headlines for weeks as the two clubs haggled over a transfer fee.
Zenit had already shown they were tough negotiators after both Barcelona and Tottenham had failed to agree a fee with the club for the Russian playmaker last summer.
Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger finally landed his man, albeit for a fee that suprised many observers given the pragmatic Frenchman's famed reluctance to splash out big-money on older, more established performers.
And now it seems the transfer story has not gone unnoticed in the film industry as Madonna's former beau Ritchie is thought to be keen on making a film about Arshavin's switch from Russia to the capital.
The film director is best known for his gangster films 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch' and 'Rock n Rolla', but is said to have offered €3million to Arshavin to play a role in the untitled film.
All in all, it would be an interesting project and another example of football merging with film, with previous examples such as 'Escape to Victory', 'Bend it Like Beckham' and 'Goal 1 & 2' all proving to be relatively successful.
Ritchie is not new to the football scene having directed the revolutionary Nike advert, which proved to be a success among football fans.
