QPR delighted at Reid loan capture

QPR boss Jim Magilton has spoken of his delight after securing the month-long loan signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid.

The 28-year-old midfielder has endured a torrid time with injuries recently, missing almost the whole of the last three seasons with back and knee injuries respectively.

Now Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has allowed the Republic of Ireland international a short-term move to Loftus Road to allow him to regain some much needed match fitness, a move richly welcomed by Magilton.

"This is a significant loan signing for the club,"
Magilton told the R's official website, "The fact we've been able to attract a player of Steven's calibre to the club speaks volumes of the board and the direction in which the club is heading.

"He's a class act. He can pass, he can tackle, he can shoot, he's box-to-box - he's a very, very good player.

"We were a bit light on numbers in the central midfield department following the long-term injuries to Martin Rowlands and Gavin Mahon but Steven's arrival will give everyone a lift and will hopefully help us to kick on over the coming weeks."

The Hoops are firmly in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League, currently sitting fourth in the Championship, and the signing of a player of undoubted quality that Reid possesses will certainly help them in their quest.
