Manchester United veteran custodian Edwin Van der Sar could be ready to commit himself to another year at Old Trafford, despite turning 40 in October.
Initial indications were that the experienced Dutchman would hang up his gloves at the end of the current campaign when his contract expires, with a final swansong at the World Cup finals with Holland also mooted.
However, according to The Sun, the former Fulham, Juventus and Ajax shot-stopper has indicated that he would be willing to postpone his retirement plans and ink a one-year extension to his deal should United offer him one.
Van der Sar apparently believes he will is still capable of competing with Ben Foster and Tomas Kuszczak for the No.1 jersey for another season, and who could blame him after the some erratic showings from his understudies this term.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be considering offering an extension as a reward for Van der Sar's heroics last season, when he broke a goalkeeping record of going 1,311 minutes in the Premier League without conceding a goal.
