Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has defended striker Dimitar Berbatov, insisting that he has 'no complaints' about the Bulgarian's form this season.
The £30.75million forward has sat out United's last three games in all competitions due to a knee injury, but is set to reclaim his place in the strating XI when the Premier League champions travel to Portsmouth on Saturday.
Berbatov, 28, has come under intense scrutiny since arriving at Old Trafford with his languid style dividing opinion amongst many observers, while he hardly set the world alight in his debut season with the club.
There were even suggestions in the media that Sir Alex was willing to cut his losses on the Bulgarian and move him on next summer.
However, having been named the club's Player of the Month for October, Berbatov has received the backing of his manager, with Fergie 'happy' with his record signing.
"I have no complaints at all," the Scot told the club's official website. "I think Dimitar is doing very well for us.
"His record at international level gives an indication of just how well he has done for his country, but he has scored important goals for us also.
"I have no worries about him. I am happy with his form, I am happy he is with us.
"I couldn’t be happier with him."
Former Bayer Leverkusen hitman Berbatov has scored 18 goals in 54 appearances for the Red Devils, including four in 11 this campaign, and has expressed his desire to lift the UEFA Champions League with United this season.
