It seems Atletico Madrid's highly sought after duo Sergio Aguero and Maxi Rodriguez won't be Juve bound, fuelling speculation that a move to The Premier League may be imminent.
Argentinian hitman Aguero, 21, has been tracked by
Manchester United all summer long and with the news today that there has been no approach for him from
Juventus, then a move may be likely.
Rumours are rife that Sir Alex Ferguson is set to land a 'marquee' signing as the season begins in earnest as he seeks to ruffle a few of his Premier League rivals' feathers.
The possible move was given more creedence by the fact that, according to the players agent Jose Segui,
Juventus have not moved for the goal machine.
"No-one has spoken with me or our agency," he told
Calciomercato.it. "It's not true, there has not been any contact.
Atletico are reportedly desperate to hang onto the 19-times capped ace who has netted 42 league goals in 112 appearances for his club. But a move to the Premier League is sure to tempt the star, who is ambitious and eager for a fresh start.
Carlo Ancelotti is also desperate to bring the player, who is seen by many to be the future of Argentinian football alongside Lionel Messi, to
Chelsea. But it's understood
United are the front-runners.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez, who is also thought to be interested in a move to The Premier League looks set to leave
Los Colchoneros, with the club still to offer him a new deal.
"With regards to Maxi Rodriguez, in the coming weeks, after the market closes, we will talk with Atletico Madrid," said Segui.
"At the moment, there is no offer for a renewal."
