In another dramatic development on the transfer front at Old Trafford the Red Devils are reportedly on the verge of a huge transfer coup involving Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o.
The 28-year-old terror had been set for a money spinning move to
Manchester City but in a last minute u-turn he is set to join the city's more illustrious outfit.
A deal that would see the former African footballer of the year earn around £150,000 a week has been put to the goal machine, who has netted a staggering 105 times in just under 150 appearances for Barca. It's understood he would be a lot more interested in a move to a club with a history of success, such as United, rather than big spending
Manchester City.
A signing of Eto'o's calibre would be a real tonic to United's fans who have bemoaned the departures of major stars and questioned the capture of injury plagued
Michael Owen. The news that Carlos Tevez is set to sign for the Eastlands outfit has also angered many. But a fee in the region of £25million is now being touted to bring the former
Mallorca forward to Old Trafford.
Sources close to the player have told press that Eto'o hasn't been taken by a move to a mid-table club, and that Barca will definitely let him leave. So the door is well and truly open for Ferguson to secure his services.
“Samuel has not been convinced by a move to a mid-table side in the Premier League,” an unnamed source told the
News of the World.
“He will also not sign a new deal at Barca.”
