Blackburn full-back Michel Salgado has revealed a novelty way of tempting former Real Madrid team-mate David Beckham to Ewood Park - getting the Rovers players to pay his wages!
Beckham, 34, has consistently expressed a desire to play in Europe once the current MLS season ends in November as he looks to stake a claim to be included in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad next summer.
The LA Galaxy midfielder has been widely tipped to return to AC Milan, where he spent several months of last season, but Salgado believes he can persuade his close friend to choose Lancashire over Lombardy. "David and I are still friends," the Spaniard told The Sun."He asked me all about my new club.
"Could I get David to Blackburn? Of course I'll have to speak with him."
Salgado and Beckham played alongside each other for four years at El Santiago Bernabeu for Los Blancos, and the 33-year-old believes they could be reunited provided his new team-mates are willing to delve into their own pockets. "The problem might be we have to collect money from the players to pay his wages," he joked.
