Blackburn Rovers are understood to have agreed a €2million (£1.7m) fee with Celta Vigo for Algerian international striker Kamel Ghilas.Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has turned his attentions to the 25-year-old - who scored 13 goals in Spain's Segunda Liga last term - after being priced out of moves for
Real Madrid hitman Ruud van Nistelrooy and new
Tottenham striker Peter Crouch.
'Big Sam' has been on the lookout for new frontman for most of the summer after selling Paraguayan marksman Roque Santa Cruz to
Manchester City while former
England Under-21 international Matt Derbyshire also left Ewood Park for a move to Olympiakos.
Ghilas, who only moved to the Balaídos last summer from Portuguese side
Vitoria Guimaraes, has been linked with a move to Portmouth and
Bolton in recent weeks, although it now seems that Rovers are set to win the race for his signature.
Meanwhile, Allardyce is also considering a move for French midfielder Sekou Baradji - who has joined the club on trial from Portuguese club Naval.
The 25-year-old has experience of playing in
England having been signed by
West Ham in 2006, but was loaned to
Reading and played a handful of games for them before being released by the Hammers.
He has since rebuilt his career in
France and
Portugal, and has gone on record as saying he would relish a move back to the Premier League, with
Fulham also believed to be monitoring his situation.
