Blackburn Rovers midfielder Keith Andrews has ended speculation surrounding his future by putting pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract at Ewood Park. The 28-year-old has been rewarded by Rovers boss Sam Allardyce after enjoying an excellent debut season at the Lancashire club, scoring four goals in 35 appearances following his arrival from MK Dons in a £1.3million deal last summer.
A number of eye-catching displays not only brought him to the attention of Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, with Andrews earning his international debut in November 2008, but also
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson - who had a £2million offer for the former
Wolves man rebuffed earlier this month.
Andrews, however, is delighted to have commited his long-term future to Rovers after a fantastic 12 months and now hopes to kick-on againt next season and help the club to reach greater heights.
"I'm delighted to be here and to commit myself for another four years," Andrews told the club's official website.
"The chairman (John Williams) was very fair with me; when I signed here from MK Dons he said that if I performed and got in the team and stayed in the team I would be rewarded and he's been true to his word."
He added:
"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far, I've a manager here now that has been thoroughly fair with me and I really want to stay here and crack on."
